Dr. Tin Maung Aye


Tin Maung Aye was born and raised in Myanmar, where he obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Ag.) from the Institute of Agriculture in Yezin, and completed an M.Sc. in Agricultural Systems at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand. After working in various positions at AIT, he joined Landcare Research Ltd. in New Zealand as a chemical analyst, and later worked as a research assistant at the Fertilizer and Lime Research Center at Massey University in New Zealand. After he completed his PhD degree in soil science from Massey University in New Zealand, he worked as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne in Australia.

Since 2005 Tin has been working for International Center for Tropical Agriculture cassava program as a soil scientist and cassava agronomist. He has also been involved with United Nations Development Program projects in China and Cambodia as an international training expert and a team leader for cassava projects. Throughout his career, he has been active in farming communities and professional organizations with the objective of assisting in poverty reduction and enhancement of agricultural sustainability in less favored upland areas of tropical Asia and the Pacific, particularly in Southeast Asia.

Tin is a soil scientist and research agronomist, international consultant with more than 25 years experiences in agronomic and environmental research projects.
