Dr. Tassilo Tiemann


Tassilo Tiemann is a Biologist with a PhD in animal nutrition and plant-environment interaction. He has been working in applied agricultural and biological sciences in developing countries in the tropics for more than 10 years. Starting his work life as an independent consultant for ecological evaluations and water related topics, he subsequently worked with the Challenge Program for Water and Food in the Basin Focal Projects on water, food and development related topics. Working for the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) for more than 6 years as regional manager for the Tropical Forages Program in SE-Asia, he acquired and honed his skills in project development, fund raising, project management, experimental design, data analysis, local partner engagement, political dialogue, strategic planning, scientific writing, conference organization, people management and logistical management. He is now an independent consultant again, working on a wide range of agricultural, natural resources and development related topics in Asia and elsewhere. His specific interest in the fields of social development, agriculture, and water management, lies in understanding social reasons for constrained progress.
