Dr. Hsiao-Hang Tao

Hsiao-Hang Tao is a native of Taiwan. She obtained her BSc in Life Sciences (Botany) and MSc in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the National Taiwan University. She received her PhD from the University of Oxford in 2016. Her PhD thesis is on sustainable management of oil palm, focusing on the effects of crop residue management on soil quality and biological functions, with her field study conducted in Smart Research Institute (SMARTRI) in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Before her doctoral training, Hsiao worked as a research assistant for the Wetland Ecology Laboratory in Biodiversity Research Centre of Academia Sinica in Taipei from 2010 to 2011, and the Observer Ecological Consultant Co., Ltd in Taipei from 2011 to 2012. Hsiao’s work in IPNI SEAP focuses on the research of best management practices of oil palm, specifically on fertilizer management and plant nutrition. In her spare time, Hsiao likes travelling, climbing, and reading.
